After a spectacular London catwalk show alongside a busy exhibition, Nova and Jeff of Nova Chiu bring the collection to the Fashion Scout Paris showroom. We caught up with Jeff to find out more about this seasons impressively hand worked pieces.
People are really serious here, in London a lot of the people who come to exhibitions are people stopping by after shows and you get a real mixture of press and other designers. Here it is more focused on meeting buyers, we have already had some great interest from buyers.
What are you most looking forward to about Fashion Scout Paris?
Getting orders, we would really like to meet buys from London, China and Hong Kong – we would like to be stocked here.
What is the main inspiration behind your latest collection?
The main inspiration came from a piece of art by Nam June Paik depicting the map of America. We took the neon details from this map and three states for inspiration; Oklahoma for their native American heritage, Inuit’s in Alaska and the large Chinese population in New York. Our hand-embroidered pieces have a huge emphasis on touch as well, with all the states being bought together with a wilderness thread in the furs we use.
Nova Chiu will be showcasing at Fashion Scout Paris until Tuesday 5th March.
